The granting of land leases by the Government of Western Australia for agricultural and pastoral pursuits has contributed greatly to Western Australia’s current international standing and economic prosperity. What is less known is the extent to which Aboriginal people have been part of this process. The following index details lease applications that were made by Aboriginal men and women between the period between 1887-1933. All reasonable care has been taken to collate the data however it is not exhaustive and further particulars including the names of other Aboriginal lease holders may exist and will be added to the online database once they are identified.
